Contract to hire position, 6 months to 1 year.

Sr. Quality Assurance and Support Engineer

Job Description:

The candidate will work closely with project managers, business analysts, and developers for various products used by Microchip WW employees. Major responsibilities of this position include the following:

  • Participate in analysis and design meetings to understand functional requirements

  • Create and execute test plans and test cases

  • Coordinate user acceptance testing, document and communicate test results to project managers and development team

  • Provide post-implementation support (respond to users, document and train repeated problems and solutions)

  • Communicate production support issues and suggest long-term fixes to the development team

Core Competencies Required:

  • System Analysis/Design:

The candidate must be familiar with general business processes or be able to learn quickly in order to understand user requirements. Experience with process flow and data flow diagramming and other analysis tools is required.

  • Project Management:

The candidate must have strong people skills, negotiation skills, and project management skills to manage projects of various sizes and complexities. The candidate must be familiar with all stages of the system development life cycle and understand the deliverables in each stage. Experience with project management software tools, such as MS Project, is required.

  • Technical Knowledge:

While this is not a development or programming position, prior development experience would be helpful in this position. The candidate should also have sufficient technical background to efficiently and effectively communicate to developers, and write automated test scripts. Knowledge and experience in relational database (like Oracle), SQL queries, and programming languages (like ASP.NET) are desirable.

  • System Quality Assurance:

The candidate will be responsible for system quality assurance prior to the applications being released to the end-users. The ability to create accurate and comprehensive test plans and test cases is essential. Experience with commercial QA testing tools is a must. Experience with TFS (Team Foundation Server) and creating, managing, and maintaining automated testing scripts in Telerik Test Studio/Selenium is a plus.

  • Verbal/Written Communication:

The candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills. He/she should be able to conduct group meetings, provide project updates, and write business professional functional, testing, and status report documents.

  • Teamwork and Culture:

The candidate must be culturally compatible with Microchip’s values based structure and style and must be able to work in a collaborative environment with both individual and team decision making. He/she needs to be proactive, customer-oriented, and be able to learn and adapt quickly in a dynamic and cross-functional environment. Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in computer science, information systems, engineering, or business.

  • Minimum of seven years of working experience in the IT area with focuses on quality assurance and user support.
