The Enterprise Data Governance & Testing (EDG&T) team is responsible for development and monitoring of enterprise-wide data governance policies, frameworks and standards, reporting and analytics, enterprise-wide independent oversight of data management risk, management of data issues, and independent testing and validation to ensure compliance with the Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) Policy.

The Enterprise Data Governance & Testing team, within the Data Management & Insights (DMI) group, is seeking an experienced leader to manage the Second Line of Defense (SLOD) for Validation adherence to Enterprise Data Governance Policy Major Requirements (MRs) across the enterprise, data-related issues and Board-level milestones.


This role will focus on the management of a team of validation professionals in order to provide an independent assessment of the appropriateness, completeness, effectiveness and sustainability of corrective actions taken to address operational data risk and data-related compliance issues, as well as DMI Board-level Milestones (BLMs). This role will ensure the execution of validation activities is in accordance with enterprise Operational Risk and Compliance Testing & Validation Standards and aligned with the Testing & Validation Center of Excellence (T&V COE). This leader will be responsible for strategic validation plan development, ensuring proper scope and coverage, and credibly challenging business partners in order to provide quality validation results that improve business practices. This individual will also have responsibility for managing project communications / reporting to leadership and will manage a broad range of professional relationships and key contacts across the enterprise.

*This position reports directly to: the Head of Enterprise Data Management Testing & Validation. * Other key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing the Validation of data issues identified through EDG&T testing to assess the appropriateness, completeness, effectiveness, and sustainability of corrective actions taken to address data management risk issues and independent verification of remediation and / or mitigating controls, and sustainability, for data issues (as defined by the Issue Management Policy)

  • Managing the Validation of DMI Board Level Milestones (BLMs), except BLMs owned by Report Mapping & Issue Identification (RMII), Technology, or EDG&T Testing & Validation as these will be validated by other responsible areas such as COSO and the T&V COE

  • Oversee the planning and validation testing within required timeframes and in accordance with established processes and procedures including the Operational Risk and Compliance Testing and Validation Standards and Procedures

  • Communicate the validation process, status, and results to business and risk partners

  • Provide credible challenge and recommendations resulting from validation work to risk and business partners

  • Facilitate an efficient and valued validation review process

  • Lead and inspire the Validation team and attract, develop, retain and maintain appropriate staff levels

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 10+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

  • 5+ years of management experience
