OFFICE OF THE ARIZONA ATTORNEY GENERAL
The Arizona Attorney General’s Office Civil Litigation Division, Bankruptcy and Collection Enforcement Section, Bankruptcy Unit is seeking an Assistant Attorney General to manage a large case load, meet with client agency representatives, perform effective legal research and articulate expounding the State's position, negotiate settlements, prepare pleadings, memoranda and correspondence effectively, and appear in Federal Bankruptcy courts to pursue collection of debts owed to the State. The attorney will also render legal advice to clients and interpret state and federal statutes, rules and regulations.
Travel is required for this position. A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required, along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.
Admission to, and good standing with, the Arizona State Bar is required (include on resume the date(s) of admission in Arizona and any other states).Candidate must have anactive Arizona State Bar license.__
Attorney applicants are required tosubmit a writing sample with their resume/application profile. Writing Sample Guidelines:
Ø The writing sample should contain an analysis of some substantive legal issue and provide insight concerning your ability to think and to explain and advocate for a particular position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge and understanding of applicable statutes, rules and regulations of federal bankruptcy courts, with particular familiarity of creditor rights and claims under chapters 7, 11, and 13.
Knowledge of legal techniques and basic concepts of American Jurisprudence and the formats utilized in the preparation of legal documents.
Attorney must have command of the legal principles which must be applied to particular fact situations in order to maximize the potential for collecting various debts owed to the State.
Attorney must present himself/herself and communicate in a professional, constructive, and productive manner internally and externally, with co-workers, staff, authority figures, and client agency representatives.
Attorney must be detail oriented and produce quality work product, must be able to prioritize and manage a large quantity of cases, must be comfortable with computer programs and case management systems, must be flexible to changing priorities and processes, must be willing to continuously improve and implement performance results and client agency relationship, must be tenacious in daily efforts to collect debts owed to the state to generate revenue.
Ability to identify issues and prepare analysis of legal documents and records.
Ability to prepare legal documents, memoranda and correspondence efficiently and with minimal supervision.
Ability to interact with representatives of various agencies and appear in judicial proceedings.
Ideal Candidates will have complex litigation experience.
The preferred candidate will have 10years of practice in bankruptcy court and experience representing Creditor in bankruptcy chapters 7, 11, 12 and 13.
