State of Arizona SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS INTERNSHIP- UNPAID in PHOENIX, Arizona
OFFICE OF THE ARIZONA ATTORNEY GENERAL
The Special Investigations Section of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office has an ongoing need for interns. Applicants will be highly motivated students from Arizona State University or other Phoenix area colleges and universities, and will have an interest in law enforcement or related fields. Applicants should be taking a relevant course of study, such as in the ASU School of Criminal Justice and Criminology, and have a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.75.
These internships will provide an excellent opportunity to work with experienced investigators involved in various types of criminal investigations and complaint intake. Investigations may involve:
White collar crimes
Political corruption
Money laundering
Consumer fraud
Medical fraud
Vulnerable adult abuse
These positions are non-paid. If the intern seeks University credit, the number of hours must meet the minimum established by the University.
REQUIREMENTS AND APPLICATION INFORMATION
This internship is offered to applicants currently pursuing an Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Forensics or a relevant course of study.
Minimum cumulative GPA 2.75.
Successfully pass a criminal background check and submit to an oral interview.
Good writing, communication, and computer skills.
All accepted interns must complete a training/orientation program and sign a letter of confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the investigations they will be involved with.
Hours:10-20 hours per week. Hours will fall between 8:00AM-5:00PM, Monday through Friday.
Internship Period: Summer and Fall semester
Background check:Interns under serious consideration will be required to:
Ø Submit to an oral interview
Ø Be fingerprinted by the agency and pass a criminal background check
Ø Submit to a background investigation
Ø An internship offer cannot be tendered until the candidate has successfully passed the initial background check. Not every applicant will be accepted. All accepted interns must complete a training/orientation program and sign a letter of confidentiality due to the sensitive nature of the investigations they will be involved with.
