We are currently recruiting for a Surveyor Technician.

Job Brief

Under minimal supervision, coordinates and completes technical survey office work assignments for the Land‐Survey Division. Works on a variety of survey related assignments involving analysis of field collected topography and land boundary surveys. Reviews, evaluates and analyzes survey boundary related documents such as deeds, plats, surveys and easements. Drafts base maps of existing land rights to assist in the drafting of final deliverables (Results of surveys and exhibit drawings) through the utilization of COGO and CAD software programs. Prepares information for the use of field survey crews in performing construction layout work. Understands the basic principles of state plane coordinate systems, grid to ground conversions and vertical datums. Understands the public land survey system, including sectional break downs, GLO lotting, closing corners and witness corners.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviews, checks analyzes and evaluates the survey measurement data collected and prepared by field survey crews. Performs necessary calculations and computations to assure required precision and accuracy of survey data.

  • Prepares data for presentation to survey requestors (designers, land agents, ect.), including drawings, abstracts and reports describing the results‐of‐surveys.

  • Updates the various survey record database and job tracking systems, as new survey results are approved for distribution to requestors.

  • Requires travel to field sites and record document source locations to collect information and resolve problems as necessary.

  • Represents Survey Division through personal contacts and communication with various survey requestors, both internal and external to SRP. Explains and clarifies interpretation of survey data and organizes its dissemination and routing.

  • Writes legal descriptions to accompany survey exhibits and maps.

  • Reviews, evaluates and understands overhead power, underground power and water design plans.

Education

College level coursework (100+) from an accredited institution will be evaluated on an individual basis according to the skill/level to determine if applicable to the position by management.

Experience

At job entry, placement will be determined by a review of college transcripts and related work experience. A minimum of 6 years of related experience is required for the senior level. Once placed into the job family, an employee may become eligible for promotion by demonstrating the ability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by their management and meeting experience requirements.
