We are looking forfour*Environmental Science Specialists* toconduct research or perform inspections in either our Tank Inspections, Compliance, & Enforcement Unit, Hazardous Waste Unit, or the Solid Waste Unit for the purpose of ensuring compliance with appropriate rules and regulations; will be identifying, abating, or eliminating sources of pollutants or hazards that affect either the environment or the health of the population. Using knowledge of various scientific disciplines, may collect, synthesize, study, report, and recommend actions based on data derived from field observations, inspections of facilities, file reviews, or measurement/observations of air, soil or water and other sources.

Ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor’s degree in law, environmental management/science/studies, sustainability, earth sciences
2 years’ experience for level 2, 5 years’ experience for level 3 (Master’s degree in related field can substitute for 2 years of experience, Doctorate in related field can substitute for 4 years of experience)
Knowledge ofAgency policies and processes, State and Federal environmental regulations pertaining to USTs (Underground Storage Tanks), Solid Waste or Hazardous Waste, environmental sciences and research, AZ sources of pollution, best practices for preventing the release of pollutants, environmental research, investigation techniques and statistical analysis
Ability to understand and apply environmental rules and statues; to follow guidance documents, standard operating procedures, and other technical instructions in performance of tasks; to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports; and to summarize completed tasks and/or monitoring data orally and in written communication
